It would more or less ruin your RP white mage stuff but if you're going to have a build that heavily relies on spells that you cast on yourself and you're going to put perks into Restoration then you should be a vampire. I suppose you could have your follower take care of all combat in the entire game while you heal them but I don't see how that could be fun.
